Political Insanity

If you have ever seen a child tear down a Lego house they built you may have an idea
of just how rapidly and devastatingly the world is imploding. This country in particular is falling apart so fast it’s mind boggling. We have always had our problems, but we have, until about 60-70 years ago, been a nation practicing the principles of the Bible, at least on the surface.

We got smart though. We decided we didn’t need God, and all those things He said were just cramping our style.

How do you devalue a person? Eliminate God. Teach that humans came from monkeys or primordial slime, and that there was no Biblical creation, just deposits from aliens. As a result, since a person is no more valuable than an animal, we get rampant and illicit sex, an increase in murder, abortion, etc. Oh forget this. Let’s read what the apostle Paul tells his protégé Timothy about the last days.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. (2 Timothy 3:1-9)

One mistake we often make when reading these nine verses is that we read them too fast. Now be honest. You did too. Read them REAL SLOW, one at a time, and allow them to register in the brain. Certain faces start coming to mind don’t they? As long as it isn’t ours, I guess it’s alright.

Do these nine verses depict these days we live in or don’t they? You know they do. Folks this is what we have become, and this is why we have committed political insanity at the voting booths. Have you noticed that every time an election comes around, the choices keep getting more and more undesirable? If you haven’t noticed, then you are burying your head in the sand and unknowingly have become part of the problem.

I know plenty of good, decent, hardworking folks who will believe anything a politician may say, as long as the one saying it is within their political party. To be perfectly honest, we’ve been to the point for some time now of voting for the lesser of the evils.

We have career politicians that have been in office far, far too long. Our federal, state and local governments are almost totally corrupt. However, I personally don’t blame the politicians. They’re just being themselves. We are to blame, and when I say “we,” I also mean the Church. The Laodicean mindset has taken over the thinking of many who profess Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

There are always a few who speak out on behalf of God, but by and large, the Christian community has gone the way of Balaam. When it comes to the future of our country and thereby our children, we have gone politically insane by being spiritually ignorant and cowards par excellence.

Could it possibly be we approve of what the world says and does? If not, then why do we live no differently than those who don’t know Christ?

There are still many good Christian people left in this country who live their lives as unto the Lord, but unfortunately, they are in the minority. Most who claim Christianity live their lives no differently than those who do not. Why should the unsaved man be interested in an eternal change in his life? He looks as good as what he sees from those who claim to be Christians.

This is what makes it harder on those who do live apart from the world. They are seen as old fuddy-duddies, mean-spirited and uncompromising. The truth is that real Christians are the most loving people there are, but because they won’t jump in the sewer with everyone else, they’re labeled a party-pooper (pardon the pun).

The problem in this country is with weak Christians and those who claim Christianity but are not Christian. Sound Biblical doctrine has been tossed aside for politically correct views and entertainment.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

Well, the time has come. The itching ears of society will believe anything because they don’t want to hear the truth. A lie is so much more appealing, especially if they think they might get something out of it.

Whether in the church or the political arena, Satan’s lies are being blasted over the loud speakers and many are still buying all he has to say. The last two presidential elections have put a knife through the very heart of this country. The one coming up could extinguish any remaining life that is left.

I personally do not believe there is any hope left for our country to get back on track with God, but who am I? God is all powerful. We who really know Jesus as Savior are the Church, and if we get on our knees in repentance and ask for a stay of judgment upon our nation, maybe He will say, “Okay.” Hezekiah was dying and pleaded to the Lord, and God granted him 15 additional years of life. (2 Kings 20:6)

Probably the greatest reason people think nothing bad is going to happen is because the “hammer hasn’t fallen” YET. We have been kissing the Cobra for the last 60-70 years. Sooner or later it will strike.
